physical violence inflicted upon the woman

Definition of “Violence against women”

Violence against women and girls is a grave violation of human rights. Its impact ranges from immediate to long-term multiple physical, sexual and mental consequences for women and girls, including death. It negatively affects women’s general well-being and prevents women from fully participating in society. Violence not only has negative consequences for women but also their families, the community and the country at large. It has tremendous costs, from greater health care and legal expenses and losses in productivity, impacting national budgets and overall development.

Ignorant Ages

It was the practice of ignorant ages before our Holy Prophet PBUH to behave brutally with women. It was common that upon the death of a spouse, the wife was buried alive. Sad to say but there is not much difference between the ignorant ages and this era. We call ourselves a believer of Holy Prophet S.A.W. but do opposite, follow the practices of the ignorant people. Crying myself while posting such pictures but it’s a sad reality which exists around us.

Rights of women in Islam

The Qur’an and prophetic practice clearly illustrate the relationship between spouses. The Qur’an says the relationship is based on tranquility, unconditional love, tenderness, protection, encouragement, peace, kindness, comfort, justice and mercy.

Holy Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.W, set direct examples of these ideals of a marital relationship in his personal life. There is no clearer prophetic saying about a husband’s responsibility toward his wife than his response when asked:

“Give her food when you take food, clothe her when you clothe yourself, do not revile her face, and do not beat her.”

Domestic violence is addressed under the concept of harm in Islamic law. Islam has given women respect much more than any other religion.

Women respect in Islam

These are the teachings of Islam and an ideal behavior with the women. But let’s discuss the reality in detail now:

Reality of Our Society

It’s a sad reality that we live in such a society where women are abused brutally. We ignore the teachings of Islam as well. Islam does not forbade women to work. But there in certain boundary. The freedom social media is showing is not the same Islam talks about.

In our rural areas, personal experience, the males brake the hands, nose, feet, sometime damage skull as well. They beat their spouse with belts as well and it’s totally fine there. No one ask them about their doings. In Islam 4 marriages are allowed but it doesn’t mean that you cannot afford one and brought the four.

Women in jails of Pakistan and the girls of school

Saying with my personal knowledge that the women in jails of Pakistan are taken by the MPA’s and MNA’s or the rich people for sometimes. They abuse them sexually then let them free. In television, I saw it on Express News and on Ary News, that the teen aged girls of government schools are abused by their teachers. Many reports were lodged in the police station. But no action. When there came an action, the action was the police officers also raped the girls. This news remained on television for some time. After that the headmaster was released on bail.

Sexual abuse of teen aged girls

My view point

It’s all about the teachings of your parents and how firm do you believe in Allah. I was a child when my father told me:

If I get to know that you bothered a girl, I will not accept you as my son and the door of this house will close for you forever. He further told me that this thing is unforgivable in my dictionary so be careful about this.

In my opinions the bad boys who abuse women must be beaten brutally so that it will be a lesson for others as well. Let me share my own experiences of how I dealt with these issues:

Example 1- The daughter of Rangers Sub-Inspector

A boy in our area liked a girl of his academy, she was 14–16. He asked her about something and she gave a really bad impression. The boy with 4 of his friends made a wreathe of slippers (jutioo ka haar) while she was passing through the street they put it in her neck. When I came to know I, with his father, uncles and my baba took the illegal way to take revenge.
If we would go to police, the police would let them free on bail after sometime. So, we first beat those 5 boys brutally, made them bald, applied polish on their faces, torn their shirts and leave them at their homes with warning that next time you won’t even get the bodies as well. This thing worked and those boys never dared to do the same thing again.

Example 2- My cousin

My cousin and my aunt told me last winter that a boy stopped her in the street in her way to academy. The boy uses to do the same thing with may girls. I said it’s fine. I, with my 12 to 15 friends, set up a plan. We got the man, boxed him, punched him and hit him with bat. Then gave him 5000 rupees as well because he was married and had children. He was a rickshaw driver (chingchi wala). We were sure that he won’t be able to get out of the bed for at least 5 to 7 days so 5000 would be enough for him and also warned him.

Question: When we beat him, what was the public doing? Watching us beating him, like in Indian films? Answer will be in comments…

Example 3- Unknown girl and Dr. Shehroz as hero

5 years back. I was coming from my academy. I found a girl saying, “Keep away otherwise I would say the boy is bothering me”. I was like: “Jaagi meri ghairat phir”. I parked my bicycle aside and came to boy, and asked him what’s the problem is with him. He replied, “What’s the problem is with you?” So it all stated, dishoom dishooom.
When I was beating the boy, I felt someone was beating me too (since it was a girl, it didn’t feel me much). After few seconds, a stone was hit to me by someone. And I was shocked to see that the same girl hit me with stone. I asked her, “Why did you beat me? I am trying to save you.” She replied, “He is my brother, who the hell are you to interfere in our matter?”. When I listened he was her brother… I took my cycle with sharafat and… (Dhoom 3 hogya). It was a funny example meaning that first we should confirm it whether what we are doing is right or wrong :D

Conclusion

There must be proper measures to be taken in order to protect our women. Otherwise, sometimes we have to adopt an illegal way to protect our women and the other women as well.
